Beginner Blender: Lights! Camera! Render!

In our final chapter of this beginner Blender tutorial, we will light our scene, position a camera, and render our robot animation to video.

Lights! Camera! Render!

Press 0 for camera view

Either zoom out until you can see the camera, or select Camera in the Outliner

In Transform, change Location to x: 0; Y: -8; Z: 1 and Rotation: X: 90; Y: 0; Z: 0.

CTRL + ALT + Q

Select the Lamp

X > Delete

SHIFT + A > Plane

Change Pivot point to Active Element

R > X > 90

S > 2

G > Y > -4

R > Z > -45

G > X > -4

G > Z > 4

R > X > -45

In Properties > Material > New

Change from Diffuse to Emission

Strength: 4

SHIFT + D

G > X > 10

G > Y -2

R > Z > 90

Select first plane

SHIFT + D

Set X to 0

G > Y > -2

R > Z > 45

File > User Preferennces > Addons

Search for ‘images’

Check the box next to Import-Export: Import Images as Planes

Save and Close

SHIFT + A > Mesh > Images as Planes

Open ‘bg.png’

Z

S > 6

R > X > 90

G > Y > 3

G > Z > 1

Press F12

Voila!

Properties > Render >

Under Output select a location to render your video

Change PNG to a video codec, Such as Ogg Theora (You may need to scroll down to see it)

Under Encoding

Select an Audio Codec > Vorbis

Press Animation

Go watch your video!
